What is a mounting machine?
A mounting machine (also called a card mounting machine) is a type of post-press printing equipment. Simply put: it is a machine that applies glue to two sheets of paper/cardstock, precisely aligns them, and bonds them into a thick cardboard.
Workflow
Automatic paper feeding → single-sided gluing → accurate alignment of two sheets of paper → roller pressing and bonding → paper collection and stacking.
For example: a thin coated sheet of coated paper is glued together with a piece of cardstock to create thick, upright hangtags and cards. This process is called mounting, and the machine used to make this is called a mounting machine.
Two common models
1. Cardboard Matching and Laminating Machine (Hang Tag/Packaging Model)
Mainly used for clothing hang tags, cards, puzzles, and gift box backing paper. Two sheets of cardstock are mounted together, and after mounting, they are sent directly to die-cutting. These are widely used by printing and hang tag factories.
2. Butterfly Mounting Machine (Photo Album Book Style)
For photo albums, children's card books, and recipes, the pages are framed and fully spread flat when opened, suitable for the imaging and text industry.
